Madden NFL 09 PSP Review

You don't have to be frozen, painted and shirtless to be a fan of football. But unless you're a huge fan, this game may not be what you're looking for. If you own previous versions, you will probably not find this year that much different. There is always some changes, if there were not someone would sue, but I don't think there's enough changes to be worth $40. If you're new to the PSP world and love football, giving this game a try would not be a bad idea. Yes, it has a few combos to learn, but that's if you play the advanced mode; on rookie mode the X button does for the most part everything. And don't forget about the difficulty settings and the slider adjustment options. From very easy to very hard, Madden has a skill level for all. Just keep in mind, if your video game shelf already has four or five madden copies, this year's version will not shock you much.

NCAA 09 - PSP Review
Seriously, all kidding aside, unless you are a major fan of college football, stay away from this title. I'm actually shocked that I'm saying this, but Madden 09 is only one month away; and I have hope. If Madden is as bad as NCAA, than there is just no hope for football this year. Maybe it is just my standards; it is my first football experience on the PSP. You guys be the judge; all I can do is provide you with the review and the screenshots.

MLB 08 The Show PSP Review
I've seen baseball games before, but none of them have compared to the latest Sony release - MLB 08: The Show. If you're a hardcore baseball fan odds are that you're not even bothering reading this review; you probably had this game pre-ordered and are now already playing it and loving it. However, if you're the kind of person that is indecisive about baseball games in general then you should purchase MLB 08: The Show and find out once and for all where you stand (if you hate this game I'd advise staying away from baseball period). As a matter of fact, I'd recommend this game to absolutely anyone who even remotely likes baseball. The only way you will be disappointed with this title is if you just don't like the sport.

SilverStone KLO2 Kublai Series Case Review

There's a lot to like about the SilverStone KL-02 case. First it is very light, meaning that carrying it around is a breeze. The construction of the case with SECC Steel and aluminum is very solid meaning that the case is not likely to break easily. The KL-02 has plenty of expansion capability with the case having up to 9 5.25" drive bays and a single 3.5" FDD bay. Negatives of the case include the lack of a motherboard tray, the installation of a long video card interfering with the drives and the fact that SilverStone cases are a mildly pricy at $100 USD for this case at most retail or e-tailors. Overall though, it is a good, solid case that is highly available on the market.

EVGA e-GeForce 9600GT SSC Edition Review
NVIDIA's new 9600GT card is targeted at the $199 and below price point and EVGA says this card should come in at $200-220. At this level of performance and pricing, the 9600GT competes against ATI's HD3850 card and almost competes against the 8800GT as that card is available online for $240 from Newegg. The 9600GT outperforms the HD3850 card from Diamond and the HD3870 card from ATI, making it an interesting choice but does not outperform the 8800GT in most cases. It has been over a year and a half since NVIDIA has launched a high-end video card in the form of the 8800GTX, with rumors of a 9800GX2 card coming hopefully it will bring high performance back into the mainstream for a good price. For now, the 9600GT is a great replacement for the 8600GT offering higher performance and a similar price point but not a great replacement for the 8800GT which is within striking range at this price point.

Contra 4 Nintendo DS Review

For the first Contra game to come across a handheld system in almost 10 years, Contra 4 shows that this series is still at home in its original 2d side scrolling environment. If you've been deciding if you should pick up a copy of this one, then quit reading now and go buy this game. If you're still skeptical fin a download station with a demo, or just borrow a friend's cart for the weekend. If you like a hard game, you'll be happy you took the chance. I know I was, and this has quickly become my favorite game in my DS library. Good luck finding a copy used though, people aren't going to be quick to sell this one back, and probably won't be for a while.

CSI: Hard Evidence Xbox 360 Review
While there are other titles out there more worthy of play on your 360, for those fans of the television series and of detective type games in general, the CSI brand has satisfied whatever craving I might have had at the moment. It's not a truly exceptional game by any means; in fact, it is quite bland as far as video games go. However, it will satisfy your thirst, if only for a short time, for playing armchair criminalist. I was neither happy nor unsatisfied with this game. It gave me what I wanted in game-play and that's all I asked for. It didn't exceed any of my expectations, but it didn't disappoint either.

V7 D22W12 22 Inch Widescreen Monitor Review
My monitor had no dead pixels and worked great as well as being simple to connect. At the end of the day the quality of the monitor and its price make for a very solid buy one that I can wholeheartedly recommend as it meets or exceeds the requirements needed by most users. Good product V7 group, keep up the good work. I give the D22W12-N6 the Gamers Gold as it is well worth looking into and highly affordable, not to mention being widely available on the net. The V7 group uses only A grade or better panels in all their monitors and this shows when viewing them.

Saitek X52 Joystick Review

The Saitek X52 has more buttons then my Jeep (no kidding). It will be extremely hard to run across a flying game that is not compatible with this joystick. Even a game made in 1997 worked great on the X52. Another amazing feature of the X52 Flight Control System is the ability to program different games on different profiles. Thus the X52 is large-family-friendly as well: one joystick with multiple profiles for multiple games, so what more could you want? Whether it is just for your or even if you have to share, the Saitek X52 Flight Control System is a “must-own” for any flight enthusiast. This really is a great product.

XFX 8800GTS 512 MB Alpha Dog Review @ gamepyre

It seems that NVIDIA is bent on just taking over the entire VGA arena in both the high and low end market at the same time. This can be clearly seen with their recent release strategy, and ATI is an unloaded gun when it comes to sheer product awareness across the spectrum. XFX will most likely have a few different variations of this card available from standard clocked models and a few overclocked types as well. This card beats almost the rest of the NVIDIA lineup other than the Ultra and is a very solid gaming solution. Pricing however is much higher than the 256MB GT, which is around the $200.00 mark as this card sells for about $350.00 give or take a few bucks in either direction.

AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ Black Edition Review

All in all I'd say AMD has a sure hit with the X2 5000+ Black Edition Processor. It does amazing speeds for its price, and manages to stay nice and cool when running them. If you're just looking to get into overclocking, then this would be a good place to start, as the unlocked multiplier makes setting the speed beyond easy. Of course, if you don't have any technical knowledge, this probably isn't the processor for you. You'll be able to spend a bit more and get a processor right out of the box running at these speeds, and not have to worry about overclocking. If you're an overclocker, check this one out, with its price and speeds you won't be sorry.

Race 07 PC Review

Race 07 is not what it claims to be, but it is only $19.99 at any major video game retailer. Unfortunately because of its low cost I have a feeling that this game won't go down in price in the next few months (and it should). Purchasing Race 07 is the same as purchasing the director's cut of a movie you already have. If you're an impulse buyer then this is a great game (despite the fact that they lied about having 300 cars in it).

ET Quake Wars Limited Collectors Edition Review

As the second multiplayer-only Quake game, Id Software's Enemy Territory Quake Wars is a great choice. This product easily wins itself and Gold Medal award for being one of the best team-based shooters that I have played since the original Battlefield 1942. Quake Wars easily lives up to the standards set by its spiritual successor, Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, and moves beyond those standards set. This game is worth picking up, and any Quake fan won't want to miss these bonus features in the Limited Edition

Saints Row Review

Saints Row is a great game! Its well worth every penny I spent on it. I had a blast ascending the ranks of the gangs and taking over territory after territory. The departure from real life and the joy of letting loose with an AK in a crowded street has its place in this complicated world; if only as a venting tool. There are four things make Saints Row a extra special game. Number one is entering the gang dynamic where you work along side other member to take out the rival members. The second would be the instant connection to your character and the other members of the Saints; you really want them to succeed. The third would be the plethora of different mission types nothing is this game ever gets old hat. And the forth and final most important thing is the intense and over the top humor that permeates ever inch of this game.

Gamepyre Review: Clive Barker's Jericho

Clive Barker's Jericho unifies story, graphics, sound and gameplay into a very solid title that will surely carve its name in the pages of great video games. This game has no multiplayer options, so if you're the kind of gamer that is not into following storylines well, then this game can get confusing pretty fast. On the other hand, if you don't skip the movie files and read the info screens in between level changes then this can be a great game to possess.

Vampire Rain Xbox 360 Review

I don't have possession of enough embittered and venomous word to describe my hate for this game. This is the definitive worst game I have ever played in my life and I have played E.T. on the old Atari. This is the first game I have ever thought about sending back to see if I could get my money back. The only thing that is remotely good about this game is the opening cinematic and the cover art (Well I think it looks cool) Every part of this game is broken and unplayable, one thing it manages to do was make me put down the game controller and go do something else. I have never been this rested I guess that is a good thing. Its mind boggling that interesting games get canceled all the time however horrible games like Vampire Rain get wide releases.

Wolf King Warrior Review

I don't even have the cable complaint here with the Warrior. This this is just all around a great gamepad. When you look around at stores and websites, many similar products are priced in such a way that all companies expect gamers to be made of money. Wolf King realizes that not all of us had thousands in expendable income with which to purchase gaming items, and they keep their prices reasonable because of it.

Company of Heroes - Opposing Fronts Review

The more I've played Opposing Fronts the more I've loved it. Honestly, at first, I hated it (by comparison to the original). Yet for review purposes I had to play enough so I can write about it accurately. That right there did me a favor; now it is one of my favorite games. When debating purchasing this game ask yourself this question: do I enjoy playing WWII RTS games? If the answer is YES or even a MAYBE then this is a must purchase for you. If you enjoy strategy and hate the zerg aspect of RTSs, then once again this is a game for you.

ASUS 8600GTS Video Card Review

I really can't find anything negative to say about the card. Under DirectX 9 everything works amazing. DirectX 10 has some glitches, but that is new technology. It will take some patches and driver updates to get it 100% right. Overall I have no regrets about updating to Vista in order to fully take advantage of this sweet card. Now keep in mind that this is not top of the line, but a mid-ranged video card. If you expect it to perform on the same levels as your friend's $700 video card then you will be disappointed. If on the other hand you're upgrading from a 6 or 7 series card then you'll absolutely love this card, especially for the price.

UPDATED Half-Life 2: Episode 2 CPU and Graphics Performance

At the end of 2004, barely over 6 years since the release of the original Half Life, Valve unleashed the long awaited sequel upon the world. We stayed up late that launch night benchmarking the new game, worried that it would only run well on ATI cards, we were pleasantly surprised that Valve had made a Half Life 2 that ran very well on virtually all hardware with the exception of the GeForce FX...

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate Demo Preview
The game itself looks every bit as good as F.E.A.R. has in the past. While this game doesn't necessarily sport the best graphics around, they are still very nice to look at when playing this game. They also set the mood very well with the lighting, and their use of it. The creators of this franchise seem to know the perfect time to flicker those lights on and off to make you jump.  But making you jump and sending a chill down the spine is what this game is for, being a horror-themed FPS. If you are easily scared, or blood isn't something you look for in an FPS, then this won't be one for you. I know personally I am anxiously awaiting the release of this title so I can pick it up and see what else is in store. If it's as good as the last two parts, gamers will be in for a nice chilling game, start to finish.

TwoWorlds Xbox360 Review

I want to say good things about Two Worlds. Despite the mostly mediocre execution of many of the elements in the game there are some things that work. I can't say that all my time with Two Worlds was a waste. I did get some entertainment out of it; you just have to work hard to find it. I would just let you know to keep your expectations low. Please keep in mind that this is the first major release from Reality Pump; and that is saying a lot. Just think about what they could do with more money and a long development cycle. I look forward to their next release because this game shows lots of promise.

Test Drive Unlimited PS2 Review @ Gamepyre

Test Drive isn't like it used to be, and that is a good thing. Atari has tried to make this into a noticed racing franchise, instead of just another racing game that gets overlooked by a lot of gamers. This time around they have taken the wildly successful Xbox360 game Test Drive Unlimited, and put it on the PS2.

Earth Defense Force 2017 Xbox360 Review @ gamepyre
If you want to give you brain a rest from a long day EDF 2017 is the game for you. It allows you to plant you butt in front of the television and cause carnage on an enormous scale. There is even a co-op mode which enables you to defend the earth with a friend, but it seems online support was left out. There are vehicles that can be used, however the controls are horrible making you more likely to pass them up rather then use them.

Logitech Revolution Mouse Review @ Gamepyre
Logitech bills the MX Revolution as the world’s most advanced mouse. To a certain extent it is evolutionary. From a gamers’ point of view, you would be better served by a G7 mouse, as the resolution of this mouse in actual play is not good enough to play the latest and greatest FPS games. Regular mouse users will love the new features including the quick-flip through documents and the Search button...

Grand Theft Auto/Vice City Stories PS2 Review

It is time that Rockstar Games quit milking GTA3 for all it is worth, and just move onto the next game, GTA4. This is basically just Vice City rewrapped into a shiny new package for the PSP owners, but for a PS2 game it is about average. Don't get me wrong..
